International Crew Reception

All overseas crews along with their coaches and supporters are invited to the international crew reception on the Thursday evening before the regatta starts. The international reception is a fantastic opportunity to mingle with other overseas participants where you can truly enter the spirit of the regatta.

This very popular event is hosted by HWR Chairman Naomi Ashcroft, herself a multiple HWR winner and former world champion. The event begins with a short speech from a guest of honour.

For many years the International Reception has taken place at the River & Rowing Museum in Henley. Sadly, this closed in September 2025. We are delighted that this year the International Reception will be at Leander Club, one of the most historic and successful rowing clubs in the world.

Places at the international reception are free for all competitors plus one coach per crew (booking required). Additional guest tickets may also be purchased (£20).

Dress: Smart – blazers if you have them.

Crews and their families can also book to be taken on a guided tour of Leander Club by a current athlete. Tours take place either before (5pm) or after  (7.15pm) speeches and must be booked in advance (just 1 ‘ticket’ needed per group only).
